Led Zeppelin are being sued by representatives for the long-inactive band Spirit, accused of plagiarizing an early Spirit instrumental in part of "Stairway to Heaven." I'm a huge fan of the band Spirit, and I've always known about the similarities between the acoustic intro to "Stairway to Heaven" and the short Spirit piece "Taurus," but this just smacks of an eleventh-hour cash grab to me.
If nothing else, a few people that have never heard Spirit's music might branch out and discover something they missed out on.
What do you think? Does it have merit? Or a frivolous lawsuit?
